Ask for it.

You can't give what you don't have.

Which direction?

Fear or excitement?

Fear, friend or foe?

How important?

To paint a house.

You can't give what you don't have.

I find that a lot of people look at getting in relationships without looking at the most important part of being in relationships.

Being in relationship with yourself.

What do we really look for in life?

We look for love.
We look for acceptance.
We look for trust.
We look for respect.
We look for intimacy.
We look for honesty.
We look for communication.

We look for all these things and many other things.

How many of these things do we give to ourselves?

Do you love yourself?
What does that mean to you?
How do you show it?

Do you accept yourself without judgments?
Do you understand the difference between accepting and liking?
What do you do about the parts of yourself that you don't like?

Do you trust yourself?
What does trust mean to you?
What do you do about the parts of yourself that you don't trust?

Do you respect yourself?
What does respect look like to you?

What is intimacy to you?
How is intimacy displayed?

Are you honest with yourself?
Do you understand the difference between honest and being brutal?
Can you be honest with consideration and compassion?

How well do you communicate?
Communication is the exchange of ideas.
Can you speak honestly?
Do you know how to actively listen to another person?

Are you willing to ask for clarification on things that you don't understand?
Are you willing to be wrong?

If you can't give these things to yourself, how is it possible to give them to someone else?

If you do not consider yourself worthy enough to give them to yourself, will you really accept them from someone else?

We cannot give what we don't have.

We will not really accept from others what we won't give ourselves.

We need to be able to say, "I love me." before we can say, "I love you."
